Calcutta, also known as the “City of Joy” is one of the largest cities in India. It is also the capital of West Bengal. If you were planning on traveling to Calcutta make sure to pack shorts and tanktops because you could fry an egg on a sidewalk with how hot it is there. Yearly average temperatures range from the upper fifties to the upper nineties. The weather stays consistent throughout the year and it is usually really hazy and foggy. The soil isn’t good there because they only get 36.4 centimeters of rain on average during the months of June, July, August and September. The weather is very consistent and isn’t very eventful so living there would make it easy to get dressed in the morning. They don’t really have seasons because the weather doesn’t change but the hottest months of the year are April and May.
The weather there is very different from Kansas. In Kansas, we have seasons that can easily be defined as winter, spring, summer and fall. But, in Calcutta it is much harder to decide what months are winter and which are summer because the weather is so consistent. Weather that poses threats for Calcutta is thunderstorms. They do have storms like we do in Kansas but they don't get a lot of tornadoes. These thunderstorms occur during the monsoon season. The storms bring heavy rain and winds.
